Swine production Grows 9.4% in MS

The production of pork in the State of Mato Grosso do Sul ended 2017 with cumulative 147,200 tons. The volume represents an increase of 9.4% in comparison with the previous year, according to figures reported on Wednesday (24), by Famasul (Federation of agriculture and livestock of MS). In absolute terms, the production last year accounted for 12000 tonnes on the high of 2016. The result relates to lower cost, due to the fall in the price of corn, used in the composition of the feed of pigs, according to the technical system analyst note Famasul, Kalpana. "In the year 2017, the suinocultor managed to invest in production, primarily because feed costs have decreased because of the reduction in the price of corn," commented.
