Neighborhood markets food basket costs almost the same as in major retailers, says survey

The research points out that the average price of 35 products in the basket costs R $247.16 grids, cents less than the price in neighborhood markets, R $247.34. The study collected data from 400 establishment of the whole country in the first quarter of this year.
Strictly speaking, the price tends to be higher in neighborhood markets. The major networks have economies of scale and are able to negotiate better prices with suppliers, which enables a lower price.
The head of research, Marco Lima, says that the price differential between large and small retailers has been dropping year by year, especially with the worsening economic crisis. "The small retailers have suffered a lot and held the price more than the large-scale retail. Crushed the margin, but keep the customer in your store, "he said.
