L ' Oréal will close factory celebrating its 50th anniversary in Rio de Janeiro

L ' Oréal Brazil reported on Wednesday (23/8) closing your factory in Pavuna, North of the River, at the end of 2018. According to the manufacturer of cosmetics, the decision was made taking into account the need to adjust the operating structure of the company to the current Brazilian adverse economic environment.
The unit was opened at the site in 1967. Without revealing production volumes because it considers strategic information, the company informed that the items produced at the plant from Pavuna will be manufactured in the Village Jaguará, in São Paulo.
According to L ' Oréal, employees receive bonus package, including support in transition, exceeding legal requirements. According to Sintiperj (Union of workers in the industries of Fluff and household Artifacts of the city of Rio), company representatives have already met with the entity.
When questioned about the number of workers at the factory, the L ' Oréal reported said that won't open for staff in total business unit. Even with the decision to close the factory, L'oreal stressed that Brazil remains one of the world's major markets for the company.
Currently, the Group has three manufacturing units in the country: the Pavuna, activities closed in 2018; a factory in New Delhi, in the Baixada Fluminense, Niely cosmetics, acquired in 2014; and another in São Paulo.
The company has not traded in Brazil. But, in the L ' Oréal Group's balance sheet in the world, the company informed that the Latin American market in the first half of this year showed high of 5.9% in sales on the criterion "like-for-like" (LFL)-as it considers the stores that were open at least two years.
This increase, according to the company, was influenced by Mexican and Argentine markets growth. About Brazil, in the balance sheet, the group mentioned only that "the market still shows hard" without citing values or percentages.
