Sustainable brands boosts sales of the Unilever high

Sustainable brands delivered more than 60% of the total growth of the company (in 2015 was 46%) and grew 50% faster than the rest of the business in 2016. They recorded sales increases above average, with rates of about 10% or more during the past six years. Today, 18 of the 40 major brands of Unilever are sustainable (in 2015, were 12). Dove, silk, shiny, Lifebuoy and Hellmann''s are examples of brands that combine social or environmental purpose.

There is no doubt that the Unilever''s Sustainability Plan is causing us to be more competitive and innovative, as well as help reduce risks and costs and, consequently, to increase confidence in the company and create value for our shareholders, "said Paul Polman, CEO, Unilever.
Eco-efficiency measures in the company''s factories around the world helped avoid costly over €700,000,000 (base year 2008) and are fundamental to the progress on the commitments outlined in the sustainability plan. The waste management program, for example, avoided costs of about € 250milhões (base year 2008).

We believe there is no more room for the predatory management, but to a way of doing business that prime by the responsible growth of the environmental and social points of view ", Fernando Fernandez, President of Unilever in Brazil.
Unilever''s Sustainability Plan, released in 2010, was developed from a study of the social, economic and environmental impact of the life cycle of the products of the company. According to the company, based in this study was born the plan overview: generate business growth while reducing the environmental impact and increases the positive impact in society.
