Bicycle production falls by October

Sao Paulo-the production of bicycles in Manaus Industrial Pole (PIM) grew 4.1% in October compared to the previous year, to 75000 units. However, during the first 10 months of 2017, there was no indentation of 1.7% as compared to the same period last year, to 575,800 bicycles.
According to figures released on Thursday (23) by the Brazilian Association of manufacturers of motorcycles, Scooters, mopeds, bicycles and the like, there were also high of 11.6 percent in October this year, compared with the previous month.
"The manufacturers are recovering. This consolidates the trend of stability for the closing of the year, which should have similar numbers to 2016 ", commented in a note the Vice-President of Abraciclo bikes segment, John Ranel.

As the balance of Abraciclo, in October the urban category had 47600 units manufactured, up 9.2 percent over September. Already the mountain bike (MTB) featured 26800 units produced, 18.8% advance on the same basis of comparison. Already the category road showed 50.3% indentation on the previous month, totaling 503 units manufactured. "The expansion of bike lanes and cycling also day to day makes that there is an increased demand for urban bikes and this has been reflected in production volumes," said the leader of the entity.
According to the data of the Ministry of industry, Trade and services (MDIC) analyzed by Abraciclo, imports of bicycles in Brazil totaled, in October, 23300 units, 55.7% higher than the volume registered in the same month of 2016 and 20.2% greater than the calculated in September This year.
Most of the bicycles imported during the period was produced basically in China (21800), in Taiwan, (1300 units), followed by Spain (111 units). In January to October, were imported, high 1 bikes 116,100% with respect to the same period in 2016.
Already bicycle exports in October totaled 975 units, with Bolivia destinations (961) and Paraguay (14 units). The accumulated volume of shipments from January to October totaled 8860 units, a 108.5% growth compared to the registered in the same period to 2016, according to Abraciclo.
