Gomes da Costa quadruple billing

Supplier of canned fish, the Garza quadrupled revenues since 2007. Three years before the company was acquired by the Spanish group Calvo. During this period, the company tripled production in the country. Part of this growth is justified by the increased consumption registered before the economic downturn. But the high also due to initiatives of the company.
According to Alberto Encinas, CEO for Calvo group America, the company has focused on the concept of practicality and healthiness. "We have invested in a packaging factory open-easy, assured us that differential until 2012 and made Gomes da Costa the leading brand", says the Executive. He adds that the tuna factory was renovated and created a timeline of development of new products.
For the CEO, the fish market and the companies that operate in the segment have the potential to continue growing (some consultants design 6% high until 2020). He believes that the category can double in size in the next five to seven years. "For that, we need to break the restriction of the canned food," he says. Encinas explains that there is an idea that, to last in the can, the industry adds additives. According to him, this does not correspond to reality. "There is no preservative in there," he points out.
