Production falls 15.9% in April

The production of consumer electronics retreated 15.9% in April compared with the same month of 2015, according to the Brazilian Institute of geography and statistics (IBGE) compiled and released yesterday by the Brazilian electrical and electronics industry (Abinee).
According to the survey, this was the 23rd consecutive drop in activity.
The Abinee attributed the result to a retraction of 24.8% in manufacture of electronic items and 8.7% in the electrical branch. A given rated as "alarming" by the Association consider the low basis of comparison with last year. "This is a sign that the time is very difficult," said the President of the Association, Humberto Barbato, in a note sent to the press.
In the first quarter, the consumer electronics industry registered a drop in activity of 24.2% in comparison with the same period in 2015, due to the recoil of 32.6% in electronics and 17.3% in electric segment.
In the past 12 months, the electronics in General, activity accumulates 23.5% retraction.
