Physical retail client flow rises 2%

Sao Paulo-the Day of mothers and increased consumer confidence stimulated the client and returning to stores. According to a survey of Seed consulting, increasing the flow of people in physical stores increased 1.9% in may, compared to the checked in April.
The numbers are part of the Seed retail Index (ISV) and point out that this growth occurred mainly by greater trade drive, which had a 4.2% increase versus mall stores, which contributed only 0.90%.
The increase in flow occurred in function of mother''s day, the most anticipated date of trade after Christmas. However, the good performance of the flow did not result in increased sales. According to a survey of the payment network Cielo, the month of may presented the largest negative variance of sales,-6.1% compared to may 2015. "In addition to the adverse factors that Brazil presents, such as high inflation, high unemployment and bad debt, the fact that the holiday of Corpus Christi have occurred may also contributed to the negative result," said the company in a statement to the official market.
Now, for the Seed, the prospect is that the flow to continue increasing gradually, as well as sales, if there are signs of consumer confidence with the actions of the federal Government''s economic policy.

The view that the worst of the crisis has passed is also shared by the Federation of trade in goods, services and tourism of the State of São Paulo (FecomercioSP). According to the
Consumer confidence index (CCI), in June, there was high of 7.9 percent compared to may and reached 98 points-the highest value since April 2015. "In comparison with June 2015, presented high of 8.2%, registering the first rise in the comparison between the month and the same as in the previous year from January 2013," says the entity, in a note.
