Panasonic intends to halt production of LCD screens for televisions at its plant in Hyogo Prefecture, in Japan, until the end of September, said on Monday the Nikkei newspaper.
Himeji factory, from Panasonic, employs about 1 1000 employees, including contractors. The company plans to relocate hundreds of workers in installations for the production of batteries for vehicles, Nikkei reported.
According to the publication, although the company is seeking to reduce by approximately 75% the total volume of Himeji factory production, the unit will remain open and will produce components for medical devices, monitors for cars and other pieces, but not parts of tv sets.
