Catalog sales are 2.7% drop

Sales by catalog 9.11 billion R$ were active in the first quarter, falloff of 2.7% compared to the same period in 2014, according to the Brazilian Association of direct sales (Abved). The calculation does not consider inflation to 2.62% from January to March, as measured by the Broad consumer price index (IPCA). The amount of direct resellers-independent professionals operating in the sector increased by 1.18% compared to the same quarter of last year, to 4.4 million in the country. According to Roberta Kuruzu, Executive Director of Abved, the increase in the number of vendors in the industry reinforces the importance of direct selling as an alternative to undertake, because it requires low capital investment and low risk. "Despite the uncertainties regarding the macroeconomic situation, the turnover in the sector had a small drop in that first quarter. This represents a positive sign and reinforces the importance of direct sales not only as supplemental income, it''s main source of revenue for the Brazilian family, "said Roberta.
