Net revenues of 12% to R$, Klabin advances 1.5 billion in 1st Qtr

São Paulo-exports and performance in some segments in the Brazilian market favored Klabin in the first quarter of the year. The company''s net revenue totaled 1.463 billion high R$ 12% in comparison with the same quarter of last year.
"Despite the weakening economic impacts of packaging paper markets in Brazil and lower revenue from sales of wood logs in the quarter with the beginning of the new pulp plant supply, Klabin''s positioning in segments more resilient upped the recipe also on the domestic market," said the manufacturer, in a report released yesterday.
The participation of business exports went from 33% to 36% in the first three months of the year, reflecting the increased targeting of Klabin''s sales to other countries, in response to slowdown in brazilian demand.
According to the company, the total sales volume, not including wood, was 455 1000 tons in the quarter, volume 4% higher as compared to the same period last year. The high was possible from the increase in production capacity of the company''s role in 2015.
"It''s valid to note that, even with the start of production of the Puma Unit in March, no pulp sales volume was incorporated the results of the quarter", remember the company.
Last month, the Puma unit, new Klabin''s plant in Ortigueira (PR), began producing the first pulp bales. The unit is the only one in the Country able to provide simultaneously bleached short-fiber pulp, softwood and fluff.
With the expansion of production and revenue, the loss of 729 million R$ seen in the first quarter of last year was reversed to a net profit of R$ 1.074 billion this year. Adjusted Ebitda (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization) rose 11% to R$ 512 million.
