Online retail revenue in Brazil should grow 8%

Online sales in Brazil should grow 8% in 2016, compared with an increase of 15% in 2015, estimates the e-bit/Rocket, in what would be the first single-digit increase since 2001 amid a backdrop of economic crisis. If the estimated performance is confirmed, the industry''s revenues this year will be $ 44.6 million R$, explained by the difficulties of the current macroeconomic scenario, with high rates of inflation and unemployment, said the Vice President of international relations at the Rocket Company, Pedro Guasti.
"As the sector is still recent in the country showed significant growth. Last year, we''ve seen very bad results in restricted and even in retail e-commerce scenario offers perspective of growth and thus increases its market share. In 2015, this participation was 3,3% and the projection is 3,8% for 2016. "
Last year, the sector accounted for 3% increase in the number of consumers who shopped online, with a total of 39.1 million people.
