Sale of computers in Brazil falls 35% in 3Q, says IDC

SÃO PAULO-sales of personal computers in Brazil in the third quarter fell 35% on the same period in 2015, 1.047 million units, according to a survey released Thursday by market research firm IDC.
In comparison with the second quarter, there were 11% drop in sales volume. The setbacks have occurred even with the price of the machines having been real 105 cheaper compared to the previous year.
"We predicted a third quarter more heated, with the retail fueling stocks for special dates such as Black Friday and Christmas, but this did not happen," said IDC research analyst Brazil, Peter Hagge, in a statement to the press.
Of the total number of computers sold in the third quarter, were 366,000 for the corporate market and 681,000 for the final consumer, with drops of 26 and 38%, respectively, in relation to the third at the same period of 2015.
"Private companies are postponing investments and the purchase of computers and the public sector is locked due to elections, Governments, debt management and other economic and political problems. There are no expectations of improvements for the next few months, "said Hagge.
