Maersk maritime German carrier Hamburg Süd purchase

Frankfurt-Maersk Line, the maritime carrier of the Danish conglomerate A.P. Moller-Maersk, announced the purchase of the Hamburg Süd, boosting its presence in North-South trade routes, raising its market share by lowering the average age of its fleet.
Maersk Line is the world''s largest shipping carrier, responsible for about 15% of global freight, but suffered in recent years with low freight prices.
She recently announced its intention to raise its market share both organically as through acquisitions.
"The purchase of the Hamburg Süd is in line with our strategy and will raise the volumes of both the Maersk Line as APM terminals," said the Chief Executive of the Maersk Group, Søren Skou.
