Adidas has just released the first tennis Biosteel fibre, which has high performance, being natural and biodegradable. The prototype of the adidas Futurecraft Biofabric done in partnership with the German company AMSilk biotechnology, has 15 fiber% lighter than conventional synthetic fibers, and is also stronger than the natural materials already available.
The release continues sustainable innovations of adidas, who started for the recycling of plastics in partnership with Parley for the Oceans and now goes through a whole new border to invest in solutions that bring science and nature as part of the innovations.
"In a year of great innovations of adidas, the announcement of our partnership with AMSilk, and adidas Futurecraft Biofabric, is one more step with our commitment to redefine the sport industry," explains VP of strategic creation of adidas, James. "When using the fiber Biosteel in our products, we have achieved an unparalleled level of sustainability. This is a pioneering step that goes beyond sustainability and reaches a new territory of Bionic "complete innovation.
The tennis was released during the renowned Biofabricate Conference in New York, where adidas and AMSilk announced the partnership that will explore the large-scale use of Biosteel fiber performance products. "The shoes of sport that have been developed along with the adidas are the first products in the world with high performance materials made from the fabric of biopolymers. With this launch, we are setting new standards regarding the functionality of renewable tissues, "says the CEO of AMSilk, Jens Klein.
