Black Friday sells 1.9 bi R$ in products; high of 17% on 2015

SÃO PAULO (SP)-the Brazilian e-commerce made 1.9 billion on Black Friday R$ 2016, representing a high of 17% compared to the same date of 2015, according to data from Ebit, company information about the national retailing. The number of orders grew 5%, while the average ticket 2,230,000 was R$ 653-13% higher than last year, according to company data. The survey takes into account purchases made between and 12:00 am 11:59 pm this Friday (25).
In addition to billing the 4 hours of Thursday (24), when the main e-commerce (Magazine Luiza, Ponto Frio, Casas Bahia, Extra, Walmart, Submarino, Americanas) started their promotions, the turnover was 2.06 billion R$, in line with the forecast of Ebit of 2.1 billion R$ for the 2016 Edition. "Retailers have prepared before and anticipated many of the discounts categories more fetched by consumers and that accelerated sales for Thursday, but the peaks continued going on in the early hours of Friday, especially among the 12:00 am and 1:00," said the CEO of Ebit, Pedro Guasti.
For the Executive, the significant growth this year signals some trends. "Black Friday is increasingly consolidated in the Brazilian retail calendar and the growth in the number of e-consumer assets, which rose 17 percent to 1.955 million, of which 281,264 new users who made their first purchase on the internet", points Guasti.
The average ticket is mainly the largest participation of higher value-added items, however, increased a change in consumer behavior. "The economic crisis ended up helping to attract new consumers before higher value-added products purchased only in physical retail" comments.
According to Guasti, the good performance of the Black Friday should be reflected also in the weekend and on Monday, known as "Cyber Monday". "The trend is that retailers who still have stock extend its promotions, discounts similar to those granted on Thursday night (24) and Friday (25)," he added.
