Price of naphtha and greater demand for paper and pulp pressed IPP

RIO DE JANEIRO-the increase in the price of naphtha in the international market and the higher demand for pulp and paper were the factors that most influenced the high of 0.31% in the producer price index (PPI), said on Wednesday, 29, Manuel Campos Souza Neto, coach of the Brazilian Institute of geography and statistics (IBGE). To a lesser extent, the devaluation of the real against the dollar also continued pressing processing industry prices.
In June, the biggest positive impact on the IPP came from other chemicals with high of 4.35%. The reason for the increase was the higher cost with the main input in the sector, the nafta. "The nafta follows international prices and international prices have risen in the last three months," said Souza Neto.
In the case of cellulose paper, 2.74% advance was driven by prices of notebooks. "We realize that this time there's always a relevant increase in the prices of notebooks, is seasonal. This has to do with increased demand, "said the coach.
In addition, the dollar pushed once again industry prices. In June, the high of the dollar before the real was 1.63%, pointed Souza Neto. "Some sectors suffer influence," he said, citing other transportation equipment, depending on the aircraft, quoted in dollars.
In the long run, this impact is even greater, front 39.2% advance in Exchange. Some sectors come to accumulate high double digits in 12 months until June, as other transportation equipment (27.2%), tobacco (25.27%), pulp and paper (21.16%) and wood (20.09%).
