Beer industry must invest $ 1.9 bi in Pernambuco until 2020

The beer industry has decided to bet in Pernambuco, leading to the State a total of investments that should reach $ 1.9 billion until 2020. Lured by tax incentives, strategic location and low cost of labor, companies like Ambev, Brazil Petropolis and Kirin Group, representing a slice of 90% of the market, reinforced the presence in polo and Igarassu, Itapissuma Brewer in greater Recife.
Next to Bahia, Pernambuco State has received the most new projects of the sector in the Northeast. The region represents the second largest beverage market and accounts for 23% of production, according to the CervBrasil (Brazilian Association of the industry of Beer).
The location of Pernambuco, more central with respect to the Northeast than the Bahia, also favors the distribution to the market in the region.
Ambev reported the Government of Pernambuco which will invest r $ 400 million over the next two years to expand its manufacturing facility in Itapissuma. Such factory currently has the capacity to produce 8 million HL/year. The unit will be the first in the northeast to produce the long necks Budweiser, Stella Artois and Skol Senses and import the Corona. On the site, are already produced the main brands of beer, as Skol, Antarctica, Brahma, and Guarana Antarctica Soda.
Also this month, Brazil Kirin, owner of the Schin and concluded to expand the Wanton its factory in Igarassu, worth us $ 400 million, and announced over $ 500 million for the next steps, envisaged until 2020. The plant will supply, as well as the States of Paraíba, Pernambuco, Rio Grande do Norte, Alagoas and Ceara.
In April, Kmart opened new factory. The second unit of Grupo Petrópolis in the Northeast, received $ 600 million.
Currently, Grupo Petrópolis and Brazil employ 2,400 employees Kirin in Pernambuco. This number has not been issued by Ambev.
