Loaf made 19% more in 2014

Sales of processed breads and cakes have had positive results in 2014. The so-called "loaves" expanded in 19% revenue for 2013, reaching r $ 3.8 billion. In volume, the increase was 7.6% reaching the mark of 358.3 million pounds; registered per capita consumption reached 2.3 kg/year. Comparisons of these same data with relating to 2012, show the growth of 9.5% in volume sold and 32% in turnover.
Compared to industrialized cakes, the segment evolved 14% in turnover last year compared to the previous one, totaling r $ 685 million. The value is 32% higher than the registered three years ago. By volume, total sales in 2014 reached 31.3 thousand tons, i.e. an increase of 8% from 2013. In the last three years, the total sales volume of the product expanded about 13.6%.
"This category still represents a small market and has plenty of room to grow. While the biscuits and pasta have 99.6% penetration in Brazilian homes, the industrialized breads and cakes and 76.2% 50.7% are, respectively, of penetration, "explains Cláudio Zanão, President of Associação Brasileira das Indústrias Biscuits, pasta and breads & industrialized Cakes (ABIMAPI). In partnership with the consultancy Nielsen, the entity recently released data regarding industry growth in 2014.
