Chlorine production falls 1.6% in the first quarter, says Abiclor

The chlorine production retreated 1.6 percent from January to March this year over a year earlier, reaching 313,790 tons, according to the Brazilian Association of chlorine-alkali and derivatives (Abiclor). The production of caustic soda also fell 1.6% to 346,311 tons.
The chlorine and soda refill more than 16 sectors of economic activity, given the demand from different segments of the industries of agricultural pesticides, cleaning products, pulp and paper, electronics, metallurgy, textile, water treatment, among others.
Sectorial consumption of chlorine (total sales added to captive use of the producers themselves with a view to obtaining dichlorethane and propene oxide, among others) fell 1.7% in the period. The total sales of the product rose by 2.7%, the 41,893 tons.
The import of 1.4% for shied soda 275,034 tons while domestic sales increased by 3.1%, to 306,152 tonnes.
The level of installed capacity of industry was 83.8%. "If the adverse conditions in the economy are maintained, the sector should continue operating with low level of use of its ability," says the President of Abiclor, Hannibal of the Valley
