Basf's profit grows 25% on the fourth quarter, 1.42 billion euros

The largest company of the world's chemicals, Basf recorded net profit of 1.42 billion euros in the fourth quarter of 2014, representing high of 25% as compared to the same period last year, when the company recorded a net profit of 1.13 billion euros.
The result exceeded the forecast of analysts consulted by Dow Jones Newswires, of 922 million euros.
However, sales fell 0.6 percent on the same comparison, to 18.05 billion euros, also above the market's expectation, from 17.6 billion euros.
