Importation of plates for cans lids falls 91%

Buying aluminum from abroad, used in the manufacture of lids of cans for drinks, have presented a significant fall in 2015, compared to 2014, according to data compiled by Abal (Brazilian Aluminum Association). Between January and September last year, have been imported over 13 1000 tons of plates for lids. In the same period this year, Brazilian companies have brought to the country 1.2 1000 tons, a retraction of 91%. The slowdown in the purchase of the product, according to the entity, occurs after the start of production of the play by Novelis in its plant in Pindamonhangada (156 km from São Paulo). Multinational that operates in the manufacture of rolled products, the company is the only one in the country that currently holds the aluminum component production for cans. The company invested about R$ 340 million in the expansion of its factory in the State of São Paulo, which had its high production capacity to approximately 600 1000 tons per year. Among the other segments served by the manufacturer, are the domestic appliances and automotive. Aluminum has gained market space. Despite a fall in the production of beer, the canned product bottling climbed to 46% in the first half of 2015, according to Abal and Abralatas.
