Activity in the retail sector fell 1.1% in November

The movement of consumers in the retail trade fell 1.1% in November 2014, compared to October, according to data from the Boa Vista SCPC (Service Central de credit protection). There was also a fall (1%) in comparison with November of last year, but in the index year to date, an increase of 4.4% over the same period in 2013.
The evolution of retail has been more modest in 2014, in comparison with the historical series. On this basis, the prediction of Boa Vista is that the sector's growth this year is around 3.0%.
Destoando from the rest of retail, supermarkets, evaluated together with other types of food retail, were discharged from 1% on moving customers in November, on October, and 2.8% over November 2013. In the past 12 months, there has also been growth of 2.2%.
The other segments, however, pulled down the overall result. Retailers of furniture and appliances fell 3.7% in consumer activity in November over the previous month, and the textiles, garments and footwear fell 1.3 percent on the same comparison. Fuels and lubricants had more stable result, but still negative, with indentation of 0.3%.
