Fiat and Vw lost sales in 2013

Fiat and Volkswagen, the two automakers to head the Brazilian automotive market, are also the greatest responsible for sales in inflection, from a high of nearly 9% in May began to register next fall to 2% last month.
Fiat came to accumulate growth in excess of 10% in may, but closed August 5.7% drop smarting. In the same period, the oscillation of the Vw was also significant: left a high of 1.6% to 12.5%, a fall in volumes accumulated since January (see table beside).
Last year, the two brands had above-average performance, taking advantage of discounts in the tax on industrialized products (IPI) that came to zero out the tribute to popular cars in 2013 they lost space with the arrival of competitors in the compact market.
The Goal, VW, and the Fiat Uno, follow as the best-selling cars in the country, but showed falling 11.9% and 28.7%, respectively, in volumes that got their plates until August. The Palio, Fiat 's, still goes against this trend and shows growth of 4.7%. But Fox, second model more alright, Volkswagen, had 22.2 percent drop in sales during the first eight months of the year, according to calculations made from lifting of the Fenabrave, the entity that houses the car dealerships.
On the other hand, the postings made in the last twelve months to compete with these traditional models have conquered this year more than 13% of the market for passenger cars. Nearly 244 thousand units were licensed in the sum of the compacts HB20 (Hyundai), Onix, (General Motors), Etios (Toyota), 208 (Peugeot) and the new generation of Fiesta, produced since March at a Ford plant in Sao Bernardo do Campo, in the ABC paulista.
Fiat and VW have passed, then, the busiest market compete with lines lagging behind other brands, a situation which, in front of consumers hungry for news, meant a loss of sales. "In the United States, the success of a brand is related to the amount of releases. It also begins to become a reality in Brazil, "says Raphael Gallant, an analyst at Oikonomia, specialized consulting in the automotive market. According to him, after complete renovation in line with General Motors (GM) in the past two years and the update made by the Ford Fiesta and EcoSport models, Fiat and Volkswagen have lagged more lines between the four major automakers in the country.
In their accounts, the GM is heading towards overcoming the Vw at the close of the year, although the German mark, runner-up with 18.8% market share, follow in front of americana (18.1%) in accumulated until August.
The anticipated launch of a new entry model, the Up!, can be the starting point of a reaction of Volkswagen, but Gallant ponders the end of production of the Kombi-meaning the immediate loss of a market share equivalent to 0.7 percentage point-indicates a difficult scenario for the automaker next year, when the van leaves the line.
The drop in sales of Fiat and VW deepened the trend of devolution of the market in the Group of four large automakers in the country, which still includes the GM and Ford. Ten years ago, these brands together accounted for over 83% of sales, but this share fell to 70.8% in 2012 and is at 68.2% this year.
During this period, the Brazilian automotive market more than doubled in size and became the fourth largest in the world, but went on to be played for more groups. Between September and October last year, Hyundai and Toyota have launched with local production, the compact car market-the most popular-and this led to a new Division of vehicle sales.
Since June, when the market went on to lose breath, the two Asian marks were the only ones among the automakers installed in Brazil who managed to improve their results compared to the same period of last year. Along for the ride the success of HB20, Hyundai's sales more than doubled-126%-growth in accumulated from January to August. In the same period, Toyota's plates issued augmented by the arrival of the Etios, advanced 73.4%. Are the two best rates of growth of the automotive market this year.
In the peloton, the GM, as well as nearly all automakers, lost sales in the last three months, but, given the accumulated balance at the beginning of the year, came to an end, repeating last year's volume. Already Ford's sales rise 1.7 percent in 2013.
