Tin lid and ring are manufactured with recycled aluminum

Novelis, aluminium sheets producer for cans, should conclude in 2013, global project of manufacture of plates with a unique aluminum alloy
With the change, the ring and the lid – which today are made from primary aluminum – will be produced with recycled aluminum, in the same League of Tin body, explained Manfred Stanek, Director of sales and marketing at Novelis South America.
The Director says that the change in the manufacture of the ring and the cover for beverage cans with a single alloy is a high-tech solution that strengthens the positioning of the Tin as the packaging more sustainable. "Recycling rates worldwide Lever; closes the perfect looping recycling process, adds value to the brand of the client and creates a huge competitive advantage against other types of packaging, "he said.
The company's commitment is to achieve overall 80% recycled metal content in their products until 2020, which involves the search of new alloys that meet customers ' specifications and content-absorbing recycled metal. Last year the company inaugurated, in Atlanta (USA), Novelis Global Research & Technology Center, where teams develop, including recycling technologies, with the contribution of experts distributed by several plants around the world.
The plate of aluminum (Novelis evercan ™) for manufacturing the body of the beverage cans with a guaranteed content of at least 90% recycled material is now available in North America and Europe and, by the end of 2013, will be available worldwide. "It is not yet possible to need when we will have available the aluminium plate with 100% recycled metal content, but we have worked tirelessly to achieve this goal," said Stanek.
According to Manfred, these innovations provide benefits to the environment to the extent that reduce the carbon footprint of the beverage companies and their supply chain partners. In addition, allow consumers to buy environmentally conscious products of low carbon footprint.
