Samsung makes $ 347 million to buy German company

NEW YORK-the Samsung Group struck a deal, through its affiliates, to purchase the German specialist in lighting Novaled AG for 260 million euros (US $ 347 million), in a move that highlights the ambition of the conglomerate by new generation technologies. The deal will help Samsung to win a better presence on the market of new generation displays using organic light-emitting diodes (Oled).
These displays are used currently in smartphones, but are also being adopted increasingly flat due to its energy efficiency and ability to reproduce vivid colors. The Oled display market revenue is expected to grow to $ 20 billion in 2017, just $ 8 billion in 2012, according to market research firm DisplaySearch. Samsung will buy the Novaled, through affiliated Cheil Industries Inc., which produces electronic materials for Oled displays, and its electronics arm Samsung Electronics Co. source: Dow Jones Newswires.
