Digital cameras innovate to react to smartphones

After bitter losses in sales of smartphones, the market of photo cameras "digital graphics in the country must return to gain impetus in the second half. One of the reasons will come from personal consumption, since the expert forecasts that market is too much putting into practice its Brazilian ' photographer ' vein. On the other hand, a dispute, though veiled, begins to appear between the mobile devices and cameras.
Major manufacturers begin to offer models that, in addition to higher resolution and powerful lenses, ensure internet access on the machine itself. All to conquer a consumer increasingly high tech and always in search of news.
According to a survey of Gfk, the market dropped by 12.2% in camera units sold from January to may of 2013 when compared with the same period last year. The reason, according to Alex Ivanov, responsible for the digital area of Gfk, is simple: the consumer has a Pocket only and the preference for one or another product depends on your choice. In 2012, almost 5 million cameras were sold in the country.
"The cameras may not be so well with regard to sales for smartphones. But there is a recovery underway. A year ago, were awarded incentives for buying products such as white goods, which led consumers to purchase option. And the Pocket is one ", says Ivanov.
He recalls that a small portion of camera phones has good resolution. And, unlike take digital cameras market, helps to stimulate the photo.
"A market does not end with the other. And cameras increasingly advance in technology. May data show that the average price in the country is of R $ 407. Are compact models that open the doors of photography to consumers who want more image quality than that found in a smartphone, "adds Ivanov.
The technology of photographic market goes beyond a good resolution. Paulo Octavio, Vice-President of Brazil, Photoimagem, photographic industry, speaks of the reality of cameras with internet connection.
"Not yet, but equipment already earn and appropriate space of typical elements of smartphones. Are colorful cameras, with this offer. The industry is reinventing themselves to join the fray, with the advantage of a camera deliver the image with more quality, "he argues.
Joel Garbi, General Manager of Nikon of Brazil, says that the camera market in the country is stabilized as the volumes, but has much modified the profile of products that consumers want.
More zoom products and cameras with interchangeable lenses, the D-SLR (or reflex), are increasing their representation. According to him, the Nikon is ready to react to ' attack ' of smartphones. In Brazil, the factory of Manaus specializes in compact cameras with interchangeable lenses.
"The popularization of the use of the image as a means of expression stimulates even more the photography market. Surely changes are happening, consumers want photographic result getting better, "he says.
The Canon also does not see smartphones as enemies, but as stimulators of photography. For the company, particularly in Brazil, there is a year-by-year increase in interest by semi-professional cameras, which are ideal for those fell in love for photography to use smartphones and seek more resources.
