Ambev see profit fall 1.1% in the quarter and $ 1.88 billion

Beverage maker Ambev posted a net profit of r $ 1.88 billion in the second quarter of 2013, a decline of 1.1% in comparison with R $ 1.90 billion gain from the same period last year. Although minor, the result came in line with expectations of analysts heard by value. In the first half, net profit advanced 0.2% to r $ 4.22 billion.
The company's net revenue grew by 9.9% in the comparison between the second quarters, from r $ 6.82 billion in 2012 to $ 7.50 billion this year. Forecasts collected by the value pointed to a high of 8.1%. In six months, revenues totaled r $ 15,27 billion, with growth of 8.6%.
The earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (Ebitda) rose 9.5% to r $ 3.21 billion for the quarter. In the first half, there were 7.9% advance, to $ 6.81 billion.
The total volume sold by the company decreased by 1.1%, to 36.984 million hectolitres in the second quarter, drop this already in the accounts of the analysts. In the period, the volume of beer was 0.1%, to 26.845 million hectolitres and the non alcoholic (CSD & Nanc Division) retreated 3.6%, to 10.139 million hectolitres.
In Brazil, sales volume shrank by 1.5%, mainly because of Division not alcoholics, which was 4.7% reduction. In beer, the fall in the country was only 0.4%.
In your performance report, Ambev said that, after the retreat of a middle digit of Brazilian beer industry in April, saw, within two months, a performance "a little better" in the industry. Weather conditions and the Confederations Cup helped volumes, quoted the company.
In addition, there were signs of improvement in relation to food inflation, while disposable income continued to grow, though less than in the second quarter of 2012, the company said. "These macroeconomic improvements were welcome, but we are not underestimating the challenging context that remains."
