Vehicle manufacturers make up 9.5 percent of Brazilian imports until April

Companies in the automotive industry, including manufacturers of automobiles, trucks and agricultural and construction machinery, accounted for 9.5% of imports from Brazil from January to April this year, or $ 7.3 billion of the total $ 77.6 billion, according to further data trade balance disclosed on Friday, 24, by the Ministry of development, industry and foreign trade (MDIC).

Of the 17 companies in the automotive sector listed by the MINISTRY, seven had fall in imports, such as PSA Peugeot Citroën, which saw their purchases reduce 17.73% between January and April this year against the same months of 2012, to $ 301,9 million – the largest drop among the automakers. Among the automakers of heavy commercial vehicles and machines, the largest reduction was the Caterpillar of 19.74%, to $ 273.2 million.
