Suzano will stop paper mills

Suzano will suspend for one month the production in two paper mills because of "current market conditions", according to the international consulting Risi, confirmed by the company. One of the goals would be also "preserve the Group's profitable industrial units".
Suzano has decided to suspend the production of their factory in Rio Verde between 1 June and 2 July. The unit will stop in Embu on July 15 to August 15. The Green River plant has a production capacity of 56 tons of uncoated paper and Embu of 60 thousand tons of paper.
According to the consultancy, the decision was made by the company due to the lack of competition in some segments of the market because of the high costs, increased expenditure in logistics for export and also due to "unfair competition with roles that are not billed in Brazil".
The paper industry as a whole is going through a moment of crisis in Brazil. There is oversupply in the market and many companies in debt. Suzano is facing a bigger problem, because their factories are older than their international competitors.
