Colony launches first beer with protective plastic seal

The brewery Colony launches the first cans of beers in the world with plastic seal. The innovative solution, developed by CBE – Companhia Brasileira de packaging and by Braskem, ensures complete sealing of the top of the can, keeping the surface clean.
The plastic seal, which comes to supermarkets in the second half, was approved in laboratory tests by institutes in Brazil and in France. The solution will be applied to the packaging line cans after washing and drying processes. The steps will ensure a totally safe, clean and ready for consumption at any time, since the seal is complete. This will provide the Tin top protection in product displacement routes, from manufacture to final customer's hands. According to the companies involved, there is no loss of productivity in the packaging line.
According to Luiz Cláudio dos Santos, chief marketing officer of the colony, the expectation is that the beer consumer values. "As the first Brazilian brewery using the plastic seals, we intend to give a jump in our sales, with an even safer solution for the consumer and very attractive at the point of sale," he says. According to him, the novelty will not change the price of beer.
