April purchase Media distributor of digital books

The April Media on Thursday announced the acquisition of Xeriph, distributor of digital books that virtually opened the market for e-books in Brazil in 2010, and today is the largest of Latin America in this sector. The purchase, whose value was not revealed, also includes the bookstore Cat Known, the first Brazilian to sell virtual works.
The communications company says the acquisition of bookstore and Distributor is part of its strategy to strengthen the distribution of digital content for mobile devices and computers. In March 2012, the company launched the iba, a platform that brings together e-books, digital newspapers and magazine.
?With Xeriph, we will be able to take advantage of synergies with the portfolio of journals of iba and contribute to the growth of reading in the country?, said the General Director of the digital Media April, Manoel Lemos, in a statement. Led by Dudley Ernanny, the Xeriph and the Cat Known are known for good ideas thrown on the market and by professionals who formed in e-books. There were executives who now work in labels like Ediouro, intrinsic and Zahar.
Despite having arisen after Cat Known, the Xeriph became the main business of Ernanny. The Distributor, according to the Executive, created a bridge between bookstores and publishers that until then didn't exist. She went on to receive the digital Publisher work and send it to national and international bookstores-one that doesn't involve logistics trucks, but requires large technological care.
The work of facilitating the life of bookstores and publishers in the digital world, however, began to bump into a barrier in the last year: the maturing of the market for e-books. ?The Xeriph has always been supported by individuals (Group of seven investors). The time has come in which we had to seek a strategic partner to take ahead technology projects and services to consumers?, said Ernanny.
It was last year that the Brazilian market e-books won. Apple, Amazon, Google and Bookstore culture (in partnership with Kobo) inaugurated stores geared to the country about the same time. The arrival was considered to be the watershed.
New projects
Ernanny, who will continue as President of Xeriph, says that now, with the acquisition by April, digital libraries will be developed and subscription services for mobile (which allows the reading of several books per month or week by fixed price). The delivery of educational content for tablets is also provided for.
The Cat Known releases of Xeriph and will be entirely controlled by April. The bookstore now sells e-books and games from major studios. Based in Rio de Janeiro, Xeriph now has 20 employees and direct relationship with 240 30 publishers and sales channels. The number of e-books in the company's virtual deposit jumped from 5.5 million in 2010, for 12.5 thousand in 2013.
