Production and exports of pulp and paper are high in accumulated until October

Pulp and paper exports until October 2013, totaled $ 5.97 billion revenue, 9.5% above the value accumulated in the same period in 2012. How was decrease of 3.8% on imports of the products, the balance of trade in the sector stood at $ 4.38 billion, 15.3% more than in the same months last year.
Pulp production from January to October has recorded growth of 7.4%, compared to the same period in 2012, totaling 12.44 million tons produced. Last year, the volume in the period was $ 11.59 million tons. The volume of exports of the product also grew, rising to 7.85 million tons, 13.5% more about 6.92 million tons, added in the same months of 2012.
Sales of wood pulp to China, which follows as the second largest market for the Brazilian product, remain high. The sum already value $ 1.28 billion, with an increase of 28.6% year to date, while that for the main market, Europe, the recipe had slight positive variation of 0.3% in the period, totaling $ 1.77 billion.
Compared to paper, domestic production totaled 8.67 million tons, which represents 1.7% growth from January to October this year, in comparison with the same period in 2012, when 8.53 million tons were produced. In domestic sales of paper also recorded an increase of 2.7%, peaking at 4.70 million tons.
The industry continues to fight the misuse of purpose of tax exempt paper. One of the most recent initiatives is the website www.papelimune.org.br, created by BRACELPA, AFEIGRAF, ANDIPA and ABIGRAF, to publicize the awareness campaign against the misuse of the product. The tax exempt paper is tax-free only for making books, newspapers and periodicals. More than 40 companies associated with these entities have signed the deed of Commitment, affirming the legality of their operations with tax exempt paper.
The labelling on packaging to identify the tax exempt paper is already in place and in January 2014 will be the turn of the National RECOPI, which will allow the secretariats of Farm track the fate of tax exempt paper marketed in each State. Both measures will help to eradicate this illicit causes serious fiscal distortions in the Brazilian market.
