Printing industry closes year with decline in production

The printing industry had a fall of 5.4 percent in its production in the third quarter, and the cast is close with a 2013 indentation of 5.6%, according to the Abigraf, entity of the sector. The fall has been pulled by the editorial graphics products segment, which had a production 10.7% less than in the previous quarter, and should accumulate loss of 11.1% in the year. The commercial printing industry comes from a positive performance in three consecutive quarters with high of 4.6% in the third quarter, but will close the year with a fall of 2.0 percent due to depressed base a year earlier, falling to 10.3%. The segment of printed packaging, including cartons, corrugated board, paper and aseptic carton packs, is the only one that presented a high light of 0.6% in the third quarter, but the year should accumulate losses of 1.7%. In addition to increased competitiveness in relation to imported and other media, and the macroeconomic context, the high of 4.3% on costs is cited as factor of negative performance in the industry.
