Marketing of imported car advances 6% in November, says Abeiva

SAO PAULO-the sale of imported vehicles reached 8,682 units in November, number representing high of 6% over November 2012, when commercialized 8,190 units. In October this year, sales last month declined 10.3%, reported, on Tuesday, 10, the Brazilian Association of Automobile importing companies (Abeiva).
"November had only 19 working days, considering the holidays, which means that the market had least four days of sales in comparison with the month of October, which generates this reduction," said the Association President, Flávio Padovan.
In the 11 months of the year, sales of imported vehicles decreased 13.4% compared to the same period in 2012, to 101,503 units, a number that was already expected by the entity.
"The year of 2013, as we have pointed out, will fall when compared with the results of 2012, because in the early months of last year we worked with a significant volume of imported units before the announcement of the Innovate-Auto and only in 2014 we will be able to effectively compare similar bases as this distortion will not exist," said Padovan.
The Abeiva reported even though 2013 end with 110 thousand imported marketed in the country, which would mean a fall of 14.86% before the 129.2 vehicles got their plates last year.
New market performance underwhelming sales of imported vehicles has not deterred new operations in the Brazilian market. An example of this, the Chinese brand Geely, bet sales in national territory and initiates its import and distribution operations in Brazil in January 2014, with the arrival of the first batch of 200 units per month EC7 sedan, assembled in Uruguay, through its authorized network, initially, 20 dealerships.
According to the company, the prospect is that, even in the second quarter of next year, start the process of arrival of 300 monthly units subcompact GC2.
With early arrival for January, EC7 sedan will come in version with five-speed manual gearbox, motor-driven VVT with 1.8 liter aluminum block. The Geely Motors of Brazil will provide just the EC7 complete with air conditioning, power steering, leather-covered seats, electric drives, among other items of comfort. The beginning of sales of the subcompact GC2 is scheduled for the beginning of the second quarter of 2014. The car comes with three-cylinder 1.0 engine. The Chinese will also mark this model only in its most complete version, with air, power steering, electric trio, airbags, ABS, among other items.
