Coca-Cola has drop in sales in Brazil

The Vice President of communications for Coca-Cola in Brazil, Marco Simoes said this Monday, 9, that the company recorded a drop in sales in the Brazilian market in the third quarter, as a reflection of the macroeconomic scenario, which he described as "challenging". According to Sen, the company was affected by the reduction of the "availability" income of families, but said that this is a situation "circumstantial".
In the third quarter, the company recorded a 1% drop in sales, which meant an impact on the result of company for Latin America. Worldwide, revenue in the period was 2.5% lower than in 2012. Sen wouldn't estimate sales numbers for the year.
"The industry as a whole had fall in this period, and Coca-Cola fell less than the industry average," pondered the Executive, in a press conference during the Clinton Global Initative-Latin America, at the Copacabana Palace in Rio. "It was a challenging third quarter macroeconomic point of view, but it was something timely and we are sure that we're closing positive 2013," he added.
"We have products in the consumer market, affected by the availability of income, employment and relative prices. In this case, the availability of smaller income did not allow scope for consumption. It was a momentary drop. Is a circumstantial issue, "said the Executive.
