Chemical industry revenues should reach $ 162.3 billion in 2013, according to the Abiquim

The Brazilian chemical industry's net revenues will reach $ 162.3 billion in 2013, according to projection of the Brazilian chemical industry Association (Abiquim). The chemicals sector of industrial use accounts for the biggest slice of this recipe with $ 72.2 billion, representing a growth of 3.9% over the previous year. Of this total, the basic petrochemicals account for $ 12.9 billion while the thermoplastic resins represent $ 11.5 billion. The pharmaceutical industry accounts for $ 26.5 billion, a growth of 4.3% as compared to 2012. The projection is negative for the net revenues of the segments of fertilizers ( -5.3%); personal hygiene, perfumery and cosmetics ( -1.3%); and related cleaning products ( -5.7%); paints, enamels and varnishes ( -1.4%), and artificial and synthetic fibres ( -6.2%).
