The group owner of the Apothecary brands O Boticário, Eudora, Who said, Berenice? and The Beauty Box-design close the year with revenues above r $ 8 billion, including sales of franchisees. Total revenue last year was not informed, but taking into account the $ 6.9 billion of the Apothecary and considering that other businesses were still incipient, one can infer that growth over the past year will be around 16%.
241 stores were opened this year, with 3,747 points of all brands. The only network O Boticário have 3,628 units. The Eudora, created in 2011 and has 80 thousand direct sales consultants, is reviewing its store format, closed points this year and today has only five. In a statement, the Group's President, Artur Grynbaum, said 2013 was the year to consolidate the new business units. According to him, the year was also important to "make strategic adjustments" on the structure of the group. "We've already begun to reap positive results of these initiatives," he added. In August, the company announced the closure of the Skingen Genetic Intelligence business unit, created in February 2012 to develop anti-aging creams from the genetic mapping of each client.
This year the Group invested R $ 357 million in infrastructure, the highest figure since the Apothecary became a group in 2010. Part of the resources were applied in a Center for research and development of products, a new line of manufacture of makeup and an automated warehouse, all in São José dos Pinhais (PR). The other portion was used for installations that will be inaugurated in 2014: a factory in Camaçari (BA) and a distribution center in São Gonçalo dos Campos (BA).
The investments are part of the plan announced by the Group last year, investing $ 650 million by 2014 in expansion and modernisation of its infrastructure, with the goal of sustaining the company's growth over the next 20 years. "With the new operational structures and distribution, both in Bahia and Parana, the production capacity of the Group Apothecary fold," says Grynbaum.
