Pet segment will produce 2.3 million tons of food in 2013

The Associação Brasileira da Indústria de products for pets (Abinpet) mapped the sector of products and services for pets in the State of São Paulo in Brazil and found that the region has 18% of the more than 20 thousand pet shops in the country. The São Paulo City alone has 12% of the entire national territory. According to projections of the entity, until the end of 2013, Brazil will produce 2.3 million tons of food, and São Paulo will represent 26% of this production. The Brazil, fourth in animal population in the world, is also the second world pet market place, losing only to the United States.
