Grupo Pão de Açúcar 70% more profit in third quarter

SAO PAULO-the consolidated net income of Grupo Pão de Açúcar grew 69.8%, from r $ 210 million in the third quarter of last year to $ 357 million in the same period this year. The result of the group includes both the supermarket branch (Extra and Pão de Açúcar) as Viavarejo stores (Casas Bahia and Pontofrio), in addition to e-commerce operations.
In the first nine months of this year, the company's net profit was discharged from 14.8% in comparison with the same period in 2012, and totaled r $ 709 million.
The ebitda (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization) reached r $ 1 billion in the third quarter, 30.4% more than in 2012. Gross revenues reached r $ 15.7 billion.
Among the highlights of the result of the Pão de Açúcar group is still the same-store growth (which DISCONSIDERES Ventures acquired last year). These shops have recorded high sales of 10.8%, with growth of 7.9% in the food category and 13.1% of the category of other products.
Selling expenses General and administrative, as a percentage of net revenues were reduced from 19.8% in the third quarter of 2012 to 19.2% in 2013.
Viavarejo profits 165.9% more
In the result, the food part segregated (GPA) the Group had net profit 29%, reaching R $ 176 million, also in comparison with the third quarter of 2012. Ebitda reached r $ 546 million, an increase of 14.1%.
Already the Viavarejo profited 165.9%, totaling r $ 181 million in the third quarter while ebitda reached r $ 490 million, high of 55.2%.
