Eletrosul extends generation by Shps

Eletrosul inaugurates today its greatest generation venture in Santa Catarina, in investment value. The small hydroelectric plant (PCH) João Borges, 19 megawatts (MW) is the second to come into operation of the three that are planned to be Small built in the State, with total investments of R $ 496 million.
Part of the resources of the three plants were financed by the banco de fomento KfW, with resources from the Ministry of Economic Cooperation and development of Germany. The company has financing agreement with the Bank of 62.7 million ", released between 2009 and 2013, a grace period of 10 years and a period of 20 years for payment, with average charge 3% year.
Ronaldo Custódio, Director of engineering and operation of Eletrosul, said the company wants to become a reference in the generation of renewable energies within the Group Eletrobras. In this way, the subsidiary has registered wind power projects for the next auction A-3 (projects for delivery in three years), scheduled for next Monday. According to Custodio, the decision to participate will depend on talks with the controller. For strategic issues, the company does not reveal how many designs are inscribed. Depending on the outcome, she evaluates entering the A-5 (for delivery in five years), on 13 December.
For SHPS, Custodio said the KfW financing model does not require as collateral contracts of sale of energy in the long term. Thus, allows the two plants already in operation to sell energy in the "free market". In this trading environment the price paid by the short-term energy, is much higher than practiced in the regulated market, whose value is fixed at the auction of the plant. The PCH João Borges, in full operation since July, had investments of r $ 172 million. The plant takes advantage of the water potential of the Skulls, between the municipalities of São José do Cerrito, Campo Belo do Sul and Lages, in the mountainous region, and must count on his inauguration with the presence of the President of the Republic, Dilma Rousseff.
The first to go into operation of three Shps was the Barra do Rio Hat (15.15 MW), at the beginning of the year, in the Northern Arm River, between the towns of Santa Rosa de Lima and Rio Fortuna. This plant were invested R $ 141 million. Now, Eletrosul prepares to build the third PCH, the Santo Cristo, which will aggregate 19.5 MW electric array to others.
The PCH Santo Cristo begins to be built next semester, between Capão Alto and Lages in the rio Pelotinhas. The planned investment is of R $ 183 million. The project was auctioned in the last A-5 held in August. Custódio explained that the work must be completed within 2.5 years.
The Executive says that Santa Catarina has vocation for hydroelectric development by Shps, in reason of the water features and relief. Data of the National Electric Energy Agency (Aneel) show that 7% of electrical array of Santa Catarina are provided by small dams. The percentage is nearly twice the national average of installed capacity of Shp, which is 3.66%.
The generating capacity in the State of Santa Catarina, in ventures in operation currently is of 7.3 gigawatts (GW). The largest portion of that energy (74.35%) comes from hydroelectric plants. SHPS, has just over 506 MW.
To strengthen its goal of featured in the segment renewable, Custódio reiterated that the ongoing project of installing a photovoltaic plant of 1 megawatt-peak (MWp), installed on the roof of the headquarters building and parking lots of Eletrosul, in Florianópolis. The investment is of R $ 9.5 million, partially financed by KfW.
