The Hospital das Clínicas de São Paulo investigates seven cases of patients suspected of having reinfected with the new coronavirus.
According to the institution, linked to the Faculty of Medicine of the University of São Paulo (USP), an outpatient clinic was separated exclusively to monitor these possible cases.
According to the hospital, symptoms and positive tests in two distinct periods, presented by patients, can be explained by a second infection, but caused by a different virus, such as influenza. However, inactive fragments of the new coronavirus, remnants of the first infection, may have tested positive. They can also be explained by the long permanence of the new coronavirus in the body, with period of inactivity and subsequent reactivation, or even by a possible reinfection of covid-19.
