Government makes agreement that postpones increase in the price of medicines for 60 days

The Minister of The Civil House, Walter Braga Netto, announced on Tuesday that the government has reached an agreement with the pharmaceutical industry to postpone for 60 days the increase in drug prices expected to take effect in early April, amid the advance of the pandemic coronavirus. At the beginning of the month, the Drug Market Regulation Chamber (CMED) set the Relative Price Adjustment Factor Between Sectors (Factor Y) at 1.20%, which allows adjustments from 3.23% to 5.21% as of April 1, according to Sindusfarma calculations. The pharmaceutical retail chain RD had already announced that it would not pass on the annual adjustment in the prices of all medicines, highlighting the current context of crisis generated by the pandemic of the new coronavirus.
