Cost of The Basic Basket Rises in 15 Capitals

The value of the basic basket grew in 15 national capitals, due to the coronavirus pandemic. The National Basic Basket Survey was suspended on March 18 in all 17 capitals where it is conducted monthly by the Interunion Department of Statistics and Socioeconomic Studies (Dieese). The data are partial to the period between March 1 and 18 and show that the price of the basic basket increased in 15 of the 17 capitals surveyed in the period. The most significant increases occurred in Campo Grande (6.54%), Rio de Janeiro (5.56%), Vitória (5.16%) and Aracaju (5.11%). Falls were observed in Belém (-3.27%) and São Paulo (-0.24%).
