The National Electric Energy Agency (ANEEL) approved on Tuesday (10) average adjustment of 6.21% for light tariffs. The increase begins on March 15.
Commercial and residential consumers (low voltage) will have an average adjustment of 5.98%. For high-voltage industrial consumers, the average correction will be 6.73%.
About 4.1 million consumer units are served today by Light in 32 municipalities in Rio de Janeiro.
According to ANEEL, one of the factors that contributed "significantly" to the variation was the increase in the value of the itaipu hydroelectric power plant, which provides part of the energy consumed in Rio.
Itaipu's energy is indexed to the dollar, which has had a strong appreciation in recent weeks.
