IGP-M accumulates rate of 7.81% in 12 months, says FGV

The General Price Index - Market (IGP-M), used in the adjustment of rental contracts, accumulates an inflation rate of 7.81% in 12 months. According to the Getulio Vargas Foundation (FGV), the rate is higher than the 6.74% recorded in January last year. The IGP-M had inflation of 0.48% in January this year, lower than 2.09% in December 2019. The rate drop from December to January was pulled by wholesale and retail prices. The inflation Broad Producer Price Index, which measures wholesale, fell from 2.84% in December to 0.50% in January. On the other hand, the rate of the Consumer Price Index, which measures retail, went from 0.84% to 0.52% in the period. On the other hand, the National Construction Cost Index rose from 0.14% in December to 0.26% in January.
