Christmas Should Move R$ 60B

Christmas sales are expected to move about R$ 60 billion in trade and service sector. The projection is from the National Confederation of Shopkeepers (CNDL) and the Credit Protection Service (SPC Brazil). According to the survey, 77% of consumers intend to buy gifts on the date, a number that represents approximately 119.8 million Brazilians. Among the interviewees, 37% say they will spend more on gifts this year and 72% intend to pay for cash purchases. The average ticket will be R$ 124.99. In the research, department stores and the internet surpass malls and street commerce in the search for gifts, and clothes appear as the most searched category (58%). Methodology Sixty-eight consumers were heard in the 27 capitals to identify the percentage of those who wanted to go shopping at Christmas and then, from 600 interviews, consumption behavior was investigated at Christmas.
