Christmas dinner is 6.82% more expensive in 2018, says FGV

The items that make up the Christmas dinner were 6.82% more expensive in 2018, when compared to the previous year, showed a survey by the Brazilian Institute of Economics at the Getulio Vargas Foundation (FGV IBRE). The percentage was above the inflation measured by the consumer price index of FGV (IPC/FGV), between January and December 2018 (4.09%). Drawn by the food products more dollar soared in price were also the most influenced by the dollar sharply higher this year, appointed Economist André Barrie, responsible for research. Wheat flour rose 19.65%, cod was 18.55% more expensive and the chicken, 8.20%, affected also by the increase in corn and yield break in Argentina. In the list of 19 analyzed products, prices that more retreated were the TV set (-3.9%), electric oven and microwave (-0.99%) and mobile (-0.48%).
