Rio Tinto and Nespresso join forces to make greener coffee capsules

LONDON (Reuters)-Nespresso, part of food giant Nestle wants to use sustainable in all its aluminum coffee capsules until 2020, following an agreement with anglo-Australian mining company Rio Tinto. Under the agreement, Rio Tinto produced with renewable energy supply and respect for biodiversity for Nespresso, a global leader in the market for coffee capsules. The companies want to position itself as your boost sustainable appeal to investors and customers and Nespresso has promised to use its sustainable 100% aluminum capsules until 2020, said Rio Tinto said in a statement published on Sunday-I Monday in Australia. Their aluminium assets use hydroelectric power-for economic and environmental reasons-and in April the mining company became the first producer of aluminium in the world certified by Aluminum Management Initiative (ASI). So far, only part of the aluminum production is certified by the ASI River. The Vice President of sales and Marketing at Rio Tinto, Tolga Egrilmezer, said in an interview that the agreement with the Nespresso was "a significant milestone for the industry," toward the use of aluminum comes with responsibility. Nespresso said in an e-mail that it will take a while for all the capsules are certified by ASI, but was working with its manufacturers to achieve this goal and facilitate recycling as much as possible.
