National Retail Registers fall of 1.3%

National retail sales recorded 1.3 percent fall in September, compared with the month of August. The survey is from the Brazilian Institute of geography and statistics (IBGE). This was the worst result for the month in the historical series started in 2000. Compared to the same month of 2017, sales showed high of 0.1%. Retail sales show weakening over 2018, after high of 0.8% in the second quarter and 1 percent in the first three months of the year. The hyper and supermarkets had decreased by 1.2% in September-worse result for the month since 2002.
